Musky Lake Camping is coming up fast—August 14-16

If you have not made reservations for camping at Musky Lake in the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest, it’s time to check in for openings at Wisconsin.goingtocamp.com. Most of the activities will take place over the weekend of August 14-16, but several of us will be there earlier in the week with fun in mind. Whether you are a camper or just want to stop in for a day or two (Motel it!), you’re invited. Base camp is Dean and Sara at #342. Keep in mind that you need a Wisconsin State Park pass to enter the campground.

+Biking outings on the Heart of Vilas County Bike Trails will be planned on the spot and are dependent on weather.
+ Friday evening get-together around the campfire. Bring chairs, stories, snacks and beverages if you want.
+Saturday paddle is not planned, but we will happily put something together if others are interested.
+ Saturday 4 p.m. book discussion of “The Jesus Cow” by Wisconsin author Michael Perry; described as a “witty and big-hearted comedy of faith and chaos in small-town Wisconsin.”
+ Saturday 8 p.m. share wine, cheese, crackers and fellowship around the campfire.
+Sunday 9 a.m. breakfast at #342. Bring chairs, utensils, and a side to go with pancakes and eggs. C.WN will provide paperware and the main dish.

Going in on Sunday, August 30 for three nights.Deb and Jim have reserved site 43 on the lagoon.

The kayaking is wonderful, both open water on the Chippewa River and explorative paddling in among the islands, might even spot a  bryozoan colony!

Will bike the Old Abe Trail.

Location: Peninsula State Park - the entrance is near 4020 Hwy 42, Fish Creek, WI 54212

Site 355 in Tennison Bay Campground will be our gathering place for most group activities. Members camping anywhere in the park or in motels/cabins nearby are welcome to join us for all group events!

Events:

Friday

Chili Dump 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at site 355.

Please bring chili to add to the pot as well as one item (cheese, crackers, fruit, veggies, dessert, etc.) to share. Also, due to a shortage of dishwashers, please bring your own dishes and silverware!

Bonfire at 7:30 p.m. at site 355.

Saturday

Bike Ride 10:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Enjoy the great park trails. Go at your own pace, shorten the ride, or follow the leader. Lunch at Julie's Park Cafe 12:00 p.m. – Noon
